Ducky

What specific job responsibilities do you have
here at United Notions/Moda Fabrics?
Customer Service/Team Leader---"jack of all trades"
I work with customers to assist them in finding fabrics/correcting problems/and any other questions, handle the "special" donations, answer questions about patterns-project sheets-kits, process kit orders,  answer questions and process orders from designers, and handle the scheduling of trunk shows for stores.
I also help with the Notions Booth at Market and any special projects..
Part of my job is to see that the showrooms and the Lab Store are decorated and maintained.

Where did you grow up?
I was born in San Antonio, Texas, but I went to high school in Conroe, Texas.
How long have you worked for Moda Fabrics:I have been here a little over 10 years.
What did your first quilt look like and when did you make it?
My first quilt was a sampler made in a beginners class about 30+ years ago.  It was during my "purist" stage---so it is completely sewn by hand and quilted by hand.  Obviously, I have gotten over that phase!
Three things you couldn't do your job without.
Computer
All the great "stuff" that we have to decorate the showrooms and Lab Store
a large dose of sense of humor!
Other favorite past time / hobbies?
Sewing (especially anything to do with wool), reading and cooking
(especially sugar cookies and other sweets)
What did you want to be when you were 12 years old?
A schoolteacher so I could  work with children
What is your favorite childhood memory?
I loved our summer trips to Casper, Wyoming, to visit my grandparents.  We stayed 3 weeks at their house at the base of the mountain with many trips to the cabin on Casper Mountain for picnics.  So much fun with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.  We went back several times as adults with our kids so they could share in the fun memories.
Tell us about another job you had..
.I worked for a computer software company that sold computer games--all those action games.  I have never played a computer game (and don't want to play one), but we were really good at selling them!
Tell us about your beloved?
My husband, Doug.  He is the best!  We met our first week of college (we were best friends but didn't date until our junior year).  We married in 1971 while in college.   He is kind, a bit crazy at times, and has a great, sarcastic sense of humor, and, of course, looks great as he is a buyer in the men's clothing business.
My vice in life...Cokes.  I love them.  Dr. Peppers are good, too.
My passion is...Definitely my family.  Without them, I would be lost.
Flowers or Food?  What kind?
Flowers:  blue hydrangeas
My motto is...
To always try to be a kind person no matter what the situation.
Me & my: senior prom / wedding / bad hair cut / proud moment - with trophy / school photo, etc. Explain!

Doug and Debbi at their wedding in 1971---he had lots of hair and I had black hair!  Oh, those were the days!
I collect...
Ducks---are you surprised?
If you choose a career as a XXX movie star & need a stage name, they say; use the name of your first pet & the street you lived on - what would yours be?
Bingo Donella
Tell us about a favorite family tradition.
My entire family gets together for July 4th at my mom's lake house at Cypress Springs Lake in East Texas.  We spend 3-4 days swimming, boating, tubing, skiing and eating.  We have had such good times and have wonderful memories.
Or our tradition with my kids (and now their spouses and their kids) that we wear our new Christmas pajamas all day on Christmas.  Yes, we all get new pajamas for Christmas!

Where would you go on your dream vacation?
I love the mountains so it would be somewhere with mountains.
Brown bag or go out?
I would like to be organized enough to plan my lunches ahead of time, but I don't.  I hate getting up in the morning so that means no lunches from home.
If you did not work, what would you do?
I would spend time with my grandkids.  Did I mention that I have 4 grandsons---12 years, 2 1/2 years, 1 1/2 years and 2 weeks old.  And, of course, they are the cutest.
What makes you laugh?
Ducky, this made me laugh, hope it does you as well.
Just about anything can make me laugh.  Life is full of funny moments.
What would you try if you had no fear?
To go sky diving---probably not going to happen but it sure looks like fun.

  1. I always enjoy seeing Ducky when I shop in house. She is always friendly and helpful. I have also almost forgiven her for getting me started watching "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding"!
