Christmas in July

July is definitely in full swing, and with many of the new Christmas fabrics available, it's definitely time to start thinking about...well...Christmas in July! Remember to think outside the box when assembling fabrics for Christmas projects. The stockings below (pattern is "Mini Stockings" by Fig Tree & Company) were made without using a single "Christmas" fabric. Joanna Figueroa put together some wonderful bundles using Fig Tree, Sweetwater, and even some Urban Chiks fabrics.

The stockings are quick and easy to put together (especially if you're using a single fabric rather than the patchwork as shown in the pattern photo), and they can be used for gift giving and for decorating. Bet you can't make just one (I couldn't)!

Of course there are lots of wonderful Moda Christmas collections available to sew with now as well! Kate Spain's In From the Cold is a delightful collection with greens, aquas, reds, greys, and creams. There are fun prints and patterns, florals and geometrics, as well as whimsical mittens, gingerbread men, and hot cocoa mugs!

The full range of Moda Christmas fabrics is in shops now: Christmas Countdown, Winter's Lane, Joy Batiks, Wintergreen, Nature's Christmas, Icicle Kisses, Season's Greetings, Holiday in the Pines, Esprit de Noel, Aspen Frost, and Snowman Gatherings. There are sure to be several of these lines that are perfect for your holiday quilts and home décor projects. Also, while Midwinter Reds isn't technically a Christmas collection...think of all the holiday quilt options using that upcoming collection! And...collections like Happy Go Lucky and this fall's Scrumptious have some wonderful red prints and florals perfect for holiday projects!

This month the Moda Bake Shop has a delightful recipe for an easy Speedy Tree Skirt! Whatever it is you will be making for this upcoming holiday season: quilts, table runners, pillows, potholders, wall hangings, stockings, tree skirts, placemats, napkins, or more...be sure to stock up now on your favorite Moda Christmas fabric collections!
