This latest group has been in the idea stage for at least 2 years. We had been trying to talk our boss at Moda into doing it. She wasn't that excited about the idea at first, but we kept trying. Eventually she couldn't put up with the whining anymore and said YES! We are so glad that she did!
We took some of our favorite "color" prints from previous groups and re did them all in black, white and gray. I can't believe how different they look in the new colors! You might even recognize some of them.
There is a new pattern that goes with the group called L7.
Mary came up with the name while piecing the quilt top ...
Now that I look at it, I guess maybe this block should have been named 7L. I'll bring this up at the next staff meeting!
This fabric group is also not to be confused with the series of popular books called "Shades of Gray".
Ours is fabric and the books are not. In fact, I hadn't even heard of the books before we named the group.
All our quilts are pet tested and loved ...
Just ask Bella, my official quilt tester. She pieces with me all day long and listens to the constant sounds of reality TV in the background! We even eat the same cookies sometimes. She says this is an easy quilt for a beginner and loves the idea that it's a project using layer cakes. It's also the perfect size for snuggling.
I'm thinking she will be asking me to make one of these for her out of our new fabrics very soon ...
So be on the lookout at your favorite quilt shop for Shades of Black!
