Sandy Klop's Quilt Block

Hello all,
I could give you an excuse for this post being late today or I could give you an interesting story about driving home late at night from my uncle's funeral and having a flat tire in South Dallas late at night, BUT this post isn't about me it is about Sandy Klop and her holiday gift to all of the loyal moda blog readers.

Sandy does not have a blog so she has asked us to post her block and her recipe.
Sandy, sorry I am late to post. It is hard to get good help, isn't it?!

Sandy is known in the quilting world as an over achiever. We asked her to make and design a 12" quilt block for the moda schoolhouse in Salt Lake City. She made a block and of course made an entire quilt using that same block.  Did you notice that at moda we have several designers that are overachievers?

The above quilt is made from Sandy's Pezzy prints and pindots. How Festive and fun!

Each of the blocks were designed using a fat eighth of 3 fabrics. Sandy's quilt block seemed to match her recipe as well.

To download a printable version of the pattern and the recipe, click .here.
To see the newest projects that Sandy is working on visit her website.

Visit the other moda designers posting thier quilt blocks today.

On the 10th Day of Christmas...

At United Notions we get to see ALOT of new irons come through these doors. There are tons of good irons but we are currently loving this little baby.

This portable mini iron is absolutely ideal for crafting, sewing or quilting whether you are at home OR traveling!
It has 4 temperature settings on a lighted digital control pad.
We love how it heats and holds temperature in just seconds.
It has 4 Iron head positions and the soleplate measures 2-3/8" x 1-3/4".
The design of this iron allows you to get in to tiny places you wouldn't normally be able to.
And it shuts off automatically after 60 minutes.

We have had so many quilt shops come through the warehouse on the hunt for this little iron and now we know why.

This iron will fit nicely in everyone's stocking this Christmas!

Today we are giving away one of the Dritz Petite Press Mini Irons! The winner will be announced tomorrow morning.

TO WIN:
1. FOLLOW our Blog "The Cutting Table"...the one you are looking at ; )
2. Leave a COMMENT on the blog as to why you want Santa to bring you this Stocking Stuffer!

On the 8th Day of Christmas...

We posted this bad boy on the blog last month and it was such a hit that we decided it needs to be in EVERY quilters stocking this Christmas!
This nifty Seam Ripper with LED Magnifier is considered the new secret weapon of quilters, sewers and embroiderers!
Here is some info about this cool little gadget...
Mighty Bright's innovative model integrates both a light and a magnifier into one cleverly compact unit. The seam ripper features a sharp metal blade that unfolds from the main handle. It allows you to tackle seams and buttons with a genius combination of illumination and magnification.

A 1.25″ lens quadruples the image size of your blade and stitch. The enlarged area is brightened by an energy-efficient LED, bringing details into sharp focus. Its ergonomically shaped handle offers a comfortable grip as you rip, snip and cut away. Durable ABS plastic construction and three micro cell batteries keep the weight at a minimum. The Seam Ripper is an incredible value for a slender dynamo. It fits nicely into any sewing kit, until you’re ready to get down to business ripping seams!

On the 7th Day of Christmas...

Today we have asked Allison Harris of Cluck Cluck Sew to be our guest. We have fallen in love with her patterns. You may have seen the quilt from market that featured a new line of fabric, Ten Little Things by Jenn Ski. We  thought one of Allison's patterns was a perfect fit to showcase this new line of fabrics that will be in stores March 2012.

My name is Allison Harris from the blog Cluck Cluck Sew, here to share with you the 7th day of Christmas! I blog sewing and quilting tidbits and tutorials, and design quilt patterns. My latest pattern looks very cute in Jenn's fun boy fabrics as shown below.

This quilt was quilted by Alicia Key. She quilted roads in the sashings and even added some mixmaster highways in the cornerstone sections. What little boy wouldn't play for hours driving his hot wheels along the pathways?
